Speakers

Edward M. Browne, MS, CHFM, CHC, CHPA, Environment of Care and Life Safety Consultant, Joint Commission Resources

Description

This presentation will outline important risk mitigation actions that all organizations should undertake as part of their annual Environment of Care review. In particular this program will focus on exterior lighting, wayfinding (both on-site and on-line), signage, and security. In addition, this presentation will highlight steps that one state has already taken to enforce these initiatives and also what is new in the Federal Guidelines Institute (FGI) 2022 Guidelines for the Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Centers regarding this topic.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Have specific strategies to improve wayfinding to their emergency departments
  2. Understand how Security can play a role in improving exterior safety
  3. Explore strategies to improve on-line search engines guiding patients to the hospital
  4. Discuss FGI 2022 changes on this topic
