February 11, 2021
12:00pm - 12:30pm CDT

Speaker(s):

Dave Blackwell, Air Filtration Technology Leader,
Director - Healthcare Segment, Camfil

Description:

This presentation explores the pertinent changes in healthcare ventilation systems related to the recent release (Sept. 1 , 2020) of ASHRAE 170-2017, Addendum a. The presentation includes a short review of ASHRAE 170 itself, then moves to the highlights of the specific Addendum a. It includes a review of the new Table 7.1 which details pressure relationships, air changes per hour, minimum air filter particle removal efficiencies, along with humidity and temperature requirements. These parameters vary by space within the facility, depending on specific functions of that space. Protective Environments or PE rooms are reviewed also. The Informative Appendix C is reviewed allowing the reader to summarize the new filter requirements into four levels of indoor air quality for any facility. Finally, an implementation guideline has been published by Facilities Guideline Institute (FGI) which indicated adoption timelines for each state in the USA.
